Why air on this car

The Audi A3 8V Φ50 shares its platform with cars that lower cleanly, and on the higher-power versions this kit covers, a multi-link rear keeps the wheels square rather than tucking in. A3 owners want that dropped stance paired with the badge’s usual polish: flush arches, no gaps, nothing catching on the way into a car park.

That’s where air has the edge over fixed coilovers: you can drop the car for a meet, then raise it for a steep driveway, a speed hump, or a multi-storey ramp, rather than living with one compromise height. At driving height the A3 keeps more of its usual comfort than a coilover set to the same drop.

This A3 left the factory with electronically adjustable dampers, replaced here by the air struts; a cancellation kit stops the dash flagging them missing. The front mount is rubber as standard, quiet like the factory part, with pillowball or pillowball-rubber options for sharper steering. Simpler tiers cost less; higher ones add height sensing and automatic presets.

What's in the kit

Struts and bags

Struts and bags is the air suspension hardware without any management: four vehicle-specific struts with 36 levels of damping adjustment and the air bags that go on them. Choose it if you already run management you want to keep, or you are buying the RC1 or RC2 controller and tank separately.

Who it suits: Owners keeping their existing management or choosing their own, who need only the struts and air bags.

  • Four vehicle-specific struts and four air bags
  • 36 levels of damping adjustment
  • No tank, compressor, valves, remote or wiring included
  • For existing management or separately chosen RC1/RC2
  • Bolt-on fit, no cutting or welding
  • Rubber top mount standard; pillowball optional

Fitment notes

  • Front top mount: Rubber top mount. The standard fitment on McPherson-strut cars. Rubber isolates the body from the strut for the quietest ride, at the cost of a little precision. Camber is not adjustable on this mount.
  • Rear top mount: OE top mount. The kit reuses your car's original top mount rather than supplying a new one. Ride feel and camber stay as the factory set them.
  • A pillowball front top mount (camber adjustable) is available as an optional upgrade — there is a surcharge for changing the standard top-mount setting. Ask us when ordering.
  • Fits cars with Ø50 mm front struts — check your strut before ordering if this model came with more than one size.
  • Variant: multi-link rear suspension.
  • Your car has electronic (adaptive) dampers. This kit is supplied with the matching electronic damping cancellation kit, which takes the place of the original dampers on the wiring so the car’s damping control system is satisfied.
  • Application note: Rr Multi-Link Suspension.
  • Listed by the factory as: A3 8V Φ50 (Rr Multi-Link Suspension) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping).
  • Built to order — the typical lead time is around 21 working days from the date of purchase to UK delivery. We confirm the lead time for your kit before you pay.

Five years against oil leaks, with a service every two years

AirForce covers its air suspension struts against oil leakage for five years. To keep that cover, the struts need to come back for inspection and maintenance every two years; the manufacturer treats the service as a condition of the warranty, so book it in and keep the paperwork.

Damage caused by suspension components rubbing against an inflated air bag is not covered, which is why we ask your fitter to cycle the system to full height and check clearances before they hand the car back.

Compressors, air bags and the electronic control box and remotes carry the manufacturer’s separate terms, and electronic parts may need to go back to the factory for repair. Ask us for the current wording before you order.

None of this affects your statutory rights as a UK consumer. If a product is faulty, your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply alongside the manufacturer’s warranty, and your contract is with us as the retailer.
